Go Coach Go!

Cool thing: my coach was selected to go to Europe to race for six weeks.

Funny thing: he's racing for the U-23 national team! I feel so old. I am not even close to being U-23... when I was 23 I was living in Charlottesville, dj'ing and honing my music snobbery at the radio station, and cursing the cyclists who were clogging the roads I took to the barn every day.

do they really call it dj'ing at public radio stations? I used to work for NPR and PBS and they definitely weren't dj's!!! what type of show did you do?

WNRN is actually a music station - it's non-commercial, but it's not a "public" station. i had a music show called "late for work" on weekdays from 10 am-12 noon, the show still exists but with a new dj. i played a range of stuff - beth orton type stuff, whiskeytown type stuff, DMB since it was charlottesville, and older alternative and new wave (i came on after the "acoustic sunrise" program and my friends jokingly called my show "gothic sunrise" because i snuck in the cure, depeche mode, joy division, the cranes, siouxsie, etc. whenever possible!)

so anyway, yes i was a dj. and yes i miss it. that was really a great job.
