Silverman Photos!

Looking confused heading towards transition - they had volunteers helping people pull off their wetsuits.
I put on my VAC jersey for the bike leg - wanted pockets to carry all my snacks!
After 70 relentless miles of hills, I won! As Dave Scott said, even the swim was hilly thanks to all that wind.

By the way, the word on my laptop is: BROKE. I need to replace the hard drive, and everything on the broken hard drive is lost and gone forever. The good news is that after a mere $325, the machine should be good for another 3 years! And the other good news is I still have tech friends who are willing to hook me up with all the totally legitimately acquired programs I lost.

(um, "artist" and "athlete" are my professions, like i can afford to buy that stuff!)

If there is seriously important stuff on your broken hard drive, there are companies who can recover it for you. Google "hard drive recovery service".

and also, they have these things called external hard drives. where you take stuff and store it on something else to make a "back-up" of your data should your internal hard drive ever fail.

you should get one. *legitimately*

macbook? my 10-month old macbook just died, too. the hard drive is toast and apple is replacing it, but I hadn't backed up since September. my HD has been in data recovery for almost two weeks and still no promise that I'll get everything back.

I HATE APPLE!

so courtney, the real question is what is your quad measurement now that you are an official tri-geek?

"Effects of swimming and running and cyclist quad size."

keep track weekly and i can make a whole article test case out of you....although i would have liked to have your measurements before you started swimming. hmmmmm.

ACTUALLY, beth, your blog inspired me and greg to compare our quad sizes. i can't remember what they were but i was highly relieved that his were bigger than mine because honestly i expected at least a tie if not "victory" on my part. but i have been assured by an ex that my quads are indeed smaller than they were last spring.

going forward, though, i will keep track of them in my training log which will be saved on my new hard drive, backed up on my new external hard drive, and emailed to myself weekly and thus stored in gmail!

i would shell out $ for the recovery, if it weren't so expensive and if i didn't have all my favourite pictures on blogger, myspace, and facebook. thank good for internet timewasters.

and lorrie: mine was actually a 3+ year old powerbook g4. it served me well up until recently, so i am not plotting apple's downfall. yet. i'd be PISSED if it were a new laptop though.
