C - Us boys like fins too. First, it allows us upper-body challenged cyclists to be able to swim for a couple hours, despite the lack of upper body musculature. Eventually, the arms catch up and you don't need the fins. Second, it provides a great leg and aerobic workout by really putting demand on the large muscles in the legs. When I swam without fins, my HR would rarely go over 160 (I max at 200); with fins, I could max out at 195. Finally, it's just damn fun playing around with fins on! Enjoy! To really have fun with your fellow swimmers, get some fairly small ones that are white/clear so they blend into the pool background. Then go out blazingly fast a couple laps.
