Can't Think of Anything More Humiliating Than...
... High School P.E. at the Pool.
The local high school PE class comes to the pool several afternoons a week. I see them because they are right after lap swim.
This is a co-ed P.E. class.
All hormones, all downcast eyes, all nervous cowering body language, more cell phones and more sharpie-decorated items than you can shake a stick at, and no one wants to strip down to a suit, let alone swim.

My HS was under construction my freshman year. The pool was finished before the rest of the athletic facilities, so we had to take swimming for a whole year. My class was 1st period (and we had 10 periods). I don't think I swam once. Failed PE even though I had a doctor's note. My senior year, I had to take PE everyday to make up for failing and graduate.
god how awful!!
we didn't have a pool, we didn't have boys, and i got out of PE for all of high school because i rode horses after school every day.
i had it good.
No traumatic PE--just Dance class at my arts high school--boys were few, the ones present were mostly gay sweeties. We did swim in middle school--it wasn't too bad. Maybe the mutual attraction wasn't overwhelming yet.
you had to pass the swim test to graduate from my HS....
Since I was always a TA for PE I got to fish out those that couldn't swim but still tried...
add that to the humiliation list......
I saved them in my speeedo, but I thought I was hot then...
That's rough. We didn't have a pool at my school, thank God.
Humiliation for me was having our high school aerobic's class interrupted so yours truly and other weaklings could fulfull our sit-up requirements. With twenty seconds ago and under the pressure of performing lest I never graduate, I farted in the face of Jennifer Johnson, the poor girl who was holding my feet.
oakland tech, eh?
the willard kids (middle school) have swimming in PE too and use the willard pool on telegraph. and then they have a 10min. passing period to get to their academic classes. crazy, i say.
Thankfully, though we had a pool, it was only for the swim and water polo teams. I was fit from soccer, but I still wouldn't have wanted to bare much in front of the entire student body. Horrible high school flushing flashbacks!
10 minute passing period?!?!??!?!!? no wonder they all have cell phones.
Wasn't ALL of High School humiliating? Or is it just me? From the time I accidentally tucked my dress and slip into the back of my pantyhose (and walked from the gym to my next class before anyone told me), to home ec where I fell asleep and the teacher let me sleep till it was time for her to go home and then I had to explain to my track coach why I was late for practice... Or the stupid whirlpool. We had no pool, but one whirlpool. In the BOYS locker room. Us girls had to be taken in with a towel over our heads and the guys thought it was funny as hell to lead me into the showers, and then yank the towel off my head where I'd have to wait till my track coach came and rescued me. Or the time some butt naked guy walked in on my teammate and I in the whirlpool room (he didn't believe the guys that told him that 2 girls were in there). Took a long time to live that one down...
I hated High School...
But the other stories are cracking me up here. :o)
um no YOUR story is cracking me up holly!
lolololol
sorry but i am laughing...
Well, this one time in gym class...
sorry, I don't have anything. I liked gym class (other than the time when we learned square dancing in middle school).
no guys have commented at all - i guess this verifies the fact that girls have it tougher in PE.
See? All of HS, and apparently some of our HS stories, was humiliating. I swear to God, someone signed something in my yearbook one year about the naked guy. His name was Ron.
It's funny as hell now, but at the time, not so much. :o)
damn greg thinks I am a chick....
After teaching in a high school for 4 years i can say it sucks. Period.
The effect that other people have on you in high school either makes or brakes you (4 years is a long damn time for all kinds of random people to be influencing you) and the sad thing is the kids have nary an option. Its a sad place with many a stupid process that the adults put in place without good reason. The kids that blow off high school are my heroes. They look around and know it's just a giant baby sitting service. And I'm the teacher.
BTW I teach college now:-)
ALL kids (especially the nonjocks and kids that aren't the BEST looking)deserve sooooo much better.
Had to get that out:-)
