Very Detailed Breaking News
Barring any unforeseen disasters, we are moving!
To Incline Village, in Tahoe.
It's going to be great.
Relief from all this traffic and overcrowdedness and nonsense... I have lived in the Bay Area for nearly 5 years, it's been wonderful and I wouldn't trade it for anything, but now it's time to try something else. I can't wait!

wow! good for you, Courtney.
woah... WOAH!!! cRRRRRazy! Neato!
ok that's enough from this peanut gallery.
Change is good!
People who live in Incline Village already have all the money they will ever need and, therefore, don't have to work.
Moving right before winter? Ohhhhhh, it does get COLD there and
you will definitley need an SUV...get the biggest big dog you can 'cause trying to deal with tourists who chained up the wrong end of their BMW's is most frustrating!
Six to eight cords of wood should keep you warm...too bad they sell for around $300 per.
Enjoy
Oh groan.... Mr. Carson City Anonymous Person, please save your bitter breath for someone else's blog.
And, ladies: thanks for the well-wishes, I am excited about the change!
I'd disable anonymous commenting, but then I'd lose out on some pretty rich stuff. Amazing what people will type when they find a little hiding place.
actually anon: Incline Village is full of very active, cool people, a lot of whom do work for a living. I've been through a winter there before and it wasn't nearly as bad as winters on the east coast where I grew up. Since Incline gets over 300 days of sun and has a dry climate (no month gets more than 3" of precipitation) you can ride outdoors pretty much the whole winter. That's what I did. Oh, and a decent amount of wood at Raley's is about $10. Don't know where you did your shopping. Oh wait, you probably live in some crap-ass place like Carson City.

life is all about an adventure...
oh yeah, training at high elevation will increase your hematocrit level...big plus!
training in harsh conditions will make you tougher like the Belgians!
also, you can ride up Mt Rose and meet up with Bobby Julich
definitely not a lot of traffic and lots of places to ride
oh plus...cross country skiing is awesome cross training...since you are into running - snowshoe trail running is cool...
lots of good stuff to do!
sorry...will stop now...
Rock on! Tahoe is fantastic and absolutely livable -- especially for athletes who are used to being physically uncomfortable from time to time and adapting, living sparsely, and excited about life. Congrats to you both and good luck on the move.

Incline does get pretty cold, though. and the roads can be tricky in the winter, so do prepare well and take care up there.
you will love it. just love it.
and the hematocrit ... oh my!
Good luck! I'll bet you're going to love it there!
Now you can unload your high altitude sleeping tent.
congrats on the move! i'll miss seeing you blazing down tunnel though in a slew of white and blue! (i have an orange bike and am usually slow). i have a call in to my friend fred who told me about the hunter's fish store, so when he gets back to me i'll post here with the answers. but ice cubes sounds logical to me!
